Don’t let holiday gift wrap, boxes and cards go to waste – please recycle

Each year, Americans spend about $2.6 billion on gift wrap. Most of it is discarded, adding about 5 million tons to landfills around the holidays, or about 24% more trash than usual.

Conservation Stewardship Program Deadline

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) reminds Missouri farmers, ranchers and foresters of a January 7, 2011, deadline to apply for Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) benefits. 

"CSP has a continuous sign up, but only applications received by January 7 will be eligible for the next round of funding," says State Conservationist J.R. Flores.

Recycle Works Centers Now Accept Styrofoam


  Both St. Charles County Recycle Works centers are now accepting polystyrene foam, commonly called Styrofoam, for recycling, the Division of Environmental Health and Protection announced today.

NRCS Celebrating 75 Years of Helping People Help the Land

For 75 years the USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has been helping people help the land by providing financial assistance and free technical assistance to land users. NRCS employees want to use their agency's 75th anniversary to help spread the word about the work that they and their partners do.
