97-Year-Old Artist Featured in ‘Senior Moments’ Art Show

Make sure to stop by the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre from Feb. 3 – April 2 to check out the artwork of seniors––those in high school and college and seniors 55 years or older.  This exhibit is open to all and free to the public to come and enjoy.

An opening reception will take place Friday, Feb. 3, from 6-8 p.m.

Paper Snowflake Event at O’Fallon’s Heald Home

To see an exhibit of intricate, cut-paper snowflakes, visit the historic Heald Home from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, and watch artist Marion Nichols – aka the Snowflake Lady – demonstrate how she creates the original snowflakes for which she is known. Nichols also will sign and sell copies of her snowflake books. The cost for this hands-on demonstration and exhibit includes a tour of the house. Admission is $2 per person at the door.

FREE Classes Announced for Rec-Plex Fitness Fest

Here’s your chance to find a fitness class that suits you. The St. Peters Rec-Plex will offer a full slate of FREE fitness classes, all suitable for beginners, during Fitness Fest on Jan. 21, 2012. Speak with instructors during the event to find the best classes for you.
Here is a schedule of FREE group fitness classes during the Rec-Plex Fitness Fest:

Train Village & Sleigh at St. Peters City Hall

St. Peters City Centre is filled with holiday cheer this year. The public is invited to stop by the City Hall lobby to view a large train display, complete with push button controls viewers can use to start some of the special animation features. The train display was created by Darrell Reinwald, whose displays have also been featured the Festival of the Little Hills, Christmas Traditions on Main Street in St. Charles and Daniel’s Farm & Greenhouse.

Santa Claus Is Coming to St. Peters

Don’t worry—you don’t have to go up on the rooftop to be with Ol’ Saint Nick. Share your wish list with him early at St. Peters’ annual Breakfast with Santa. The event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, from 8:30-10:30 a.m. at St. Peters’ Rec-Plex South facility. Register in advance by Dec. 3.

St. Peters Holiday Open Golf Tournament

Santa might have to put away his golf clubs to prepare for his busy season, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself to one more golf tournament before the holidays.

Try your hand at the 18-hole Holiday Open scramble golf tournament on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at St. Peters Golf Course. Warm up afterward with a complimentary meal inside the clubhouse.

St. Peters “Glee”ful Holiday Celebration

A specially invited group of singers and dancers from across the metro region are being featured in a St. Peters “Glee”ful” Holiday Celebration at the St. Peters Cultural Arts Centre Performing Arts Theater. Show times are at 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4.

St. Peters Annual Holiday Season Tree Lighting

Join us at St. Peters City Hall and Cultural Arts Centre for the City’s annual Tree Lighting ceremony on Friday evening, Nov. 18, at St. Peters City Hall. The annual event begins the holiday season in St. Peters and will once again provide holiday entertainment from talented local groups. The event begins at 6 p.m. and is FREE and open to the public.

Spooktacular on Ice Costume Party at Rec-Plex

Halloween doesn’t get any cooler than this! Get the family together, put on your costumes, and come over to the St. Peters Rec-Plex north ice rink for the Halloween Spooktacular on Ice on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Hosted by the St. Peters Figure Skating Association, this fun-filled event includes a DJ, games, prizes and a costume contest. The cost is $10 for each participant and comes with skate rental. Register in advance--space is limited.
