City of O’Fallon’s New Rx Discount Card
The City of O’Fallon today launched a program designed to provide residents with some relief from the high cost of prescription drugs. The City is making free prescription drug discount cards available to residents through a program sponsored by the National League of Cities (NLC), and administered by CVS Caremark. The discount card offers average savings of up to 20 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs. The program is free to the City, and free to residents.
The discount cards can only be used for prescriptions that are not covered by health insurance. The cards are accepted at approximately ten O’Fallon pharmacies, as well as over 60,000 participating retail pharmacies across the country.
“In the current economic climate, where many people are watching what they spend, the City of O’Fallon is happy to partner with the National League of Cities to make this prescription discount card available to our residents,” said John Griesenauer, O’Fallon’s Managing Director of Administrative Services. “City residents and their family members can use the card whenever their prescriptions are not covered by insurance. The cards are available to all residents of O’Fallon, regardless of age, income level, or existing health coverage. There is no enrollment form and no membership fee required.”
Discount prescription cards can be obtained at no cost at O’Fallon City Hall, the Spirit Center, the O’Fallon Division of Water and Wastewater offices, Parks and Recreation Administrative offices, and the O’Fallon Senior Center.
Or, residents can visit www.caremark.com/nlc and print a card from the Internet. Residents also can get more information and access program tools online, or call toll-free 1-888-620-1749 for assistance.
“Not only does the NLC prescription discount card help residents save money on their medications, it is easy to use,” said Griesenauer. “O’Fallon residents only have to show their card when purchasing medication at one of the many participating pharmacies.”
