The St. Charles County Community lost a dear friend and community leader with the passing of Jackie Hosack.  Jackie passed away on April 26, 2015 after suffering complications in her battle against ALS.  The public knew Jackie best as an active, life-long Democrat and community volunteer at the Missouri State and St. Charles County areas of government.  Elected officials at all levels of government often sought Jackie's input on important legislative issues. Jackie was a true pillar of our community.

Those that were fortunate enough to call Jackie a friend have a big hole to fill in their lives.  I am one of those people. I first met Jackie after my appointment to the St. Charles County Planning and Zoning Commission in the early 1980's.  Regardless of the strong Republican and Democratic personalities that serve on Commissions of this type,  Jackie had the ability to blend the views of everyone,  which always resulted in the best interest of the St. Charles County Community.  I considered Jackie a strong mentor in my life and often sought Jackie's opinion with various issues while serving in a variety of public service assignments and elected positions.

An immediate friendship took hold, and from the very start. Jackie and I shared some wonderful stories of our children and grandchildren as they grew up through the years. Our visits were sporatic, however sometimes lasted for hours as we shared family stories, political views and stories of the antics of her late husband LeRoy, who was a perfect match for this fun-loving lady. I will never forget the humorous way Jackie just spoke LeRoy's name, which was always followed by the roll of her eyes, a shake of her head and a very loving smile. These are the memories that will always make me smile when I think of my friend, Jackie.

Perhaps the most significant public service contribution made by Jackie Hosack was when she was assigned, by the Governor of the State of Missouri, the ownership of the O'Fallon License Bureau at a time when  it was a small town location. Jackie developed a new business design and focused on quality customer service during her ownership of the O'Fallon License Bureau.  Under her leadership, Jackie developed the professional, well-organized, and quality customer-service office it is today.  She was also the owner/operator of the Wentzville License Bureau. Jackie developed and lead both license offices during a time when both communities experiences years of  years of massive, rapid growth.

The family and friends of Jackie Hosack will miss her love of life personality, her contagious, heart-warming smile and her generous, supportive nature.  Jackie Hosack was the wife of the late LeRoy C. Humphrey Hosack; dearest mother of Patricia (Robert) Blakely, John Jack (Cindy) Hosack; dear grandmother of Kirsten, Jared, Blakely, Evan and Will Hosack; sister of Marilyn (the late George) Ghirardi; dear sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

Jackie's tremendous contributions to our world will live on through her family and many community accomplishments in her life.  God gave the world a special lady in Jackie Hosack. Her presence will be dearly missed. Please remember the Hosack Family in your prayers during this difficult time of adjustment.
